Job Title: HR Operations Manager
Contract: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours week) Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm, with one day per week working 7am - 3pm
Location: Home based with ad hoc travel
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience
As an HR Operations Manager at Medigold Health, you will be at the heart of ensuring smooth, efficient, and compliant HR operations across the organisation. You will play a vital role in overseeing payroll, resolving employee queries, and maintaining accurate HR records, helping to create a seamless experience for employees while supporting business objectives.
Working closely with the Chief People Officer, People Team Manager, and Governance Director, you will lead the HR Admin team, ensuring HR processes are effective, accurate, and audit-ready. You will drive continuous improvement, reviewing and refining workflows, embracing technology to streamline operations, and championing best practice across all HR services.
You will act as the primary point of contact for payroll, managing relationships with our outsourced provider, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant pay for all employees. You will also ensure that HR operations adhere to regulatory and governance standards, maintaining high standards of data accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.

Main Objectives
The HR Operations Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of core HR administrative and recruitment services, with a particular focus on payroll oversight, process improvement, and compliance. The role ensures that employees are onboarded efficiently, paid accurately, and supported effectively throughout their employment. Working closely with the Chief People Officer, People Team Manager and the Governance Director, the postholder will maintain high standards of operational delivery, audit readiness, and continuous improvement across all HR service areas.
Specific Responsibilities
Payroll Oversight & Issue Resolution
- Own the relationship with our outsourced payroll provider (Cascade), ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related queries, including discrepancies, underpayments, and overpayments.
- Lead the resolution of payroll issues, working collaboratively with employees, finance, and the payroll provider.
- Manage overpayment recovery processes with clarity, fairness, and sensitivity.
- Ensure payroll processes are aligned with UK employment law and internal governance standards.
- Support payroll-related audits and provide accurate documentation and reporting.
HR Operations & Systems
- Lead the HR Admin team responsible for onboarding, employee lifecycle changes, and HR documentation.
- Ensure all employee data is accurately maintained in the HR system (Cascade).
- Generate and analyse regular HR reports to support business decisions, compliance, and workforce planning.
- Drive innovation in HR operations by reviewing and improving existing processes, especially onboarding, to enhance efficiency, consistency, and employee experience.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual tasks and streamline workflows using technology and best practices.
Recruitment & Team Leadership
- Manage the Recruitment Specialist to ensure effective, inclusive, and timely hiring processes.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to direct reports, encouraging a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to ensure recruitment aligns with workforce planning and business needs.
Compliance & Governance
- Partner with the Governance Director to ensure HR practices meet regulatory and internal standards.
- Maintain audit-ready records and support internal and external audits as required.
- Champion data accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance across all HR processes.
Requirements for this role
- Proven experience in HR operations, people management, payroll management and process improvement.
- Strong understanding of UK payroll processes, legislation, and best practices.
- Experience working with outsourced payroll providers and resolving complex payroll issues.
- Demonstrated ability to review, redesign, and improve HR processes, particularly onboarding.
- Exceptional attention to detail - essential for success in this role.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems - experience with Cascade is preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle sensitive employee matters professionally.
- Experience managing small teams and working cross-functionally with finance, governance, and senior leadership.
- Must be based in the UK, able to work remotely and travel ad-hoc within the UK.
