Chief Medical Officer (CMO)

MAIN OBJECTIVES
To:
- Lead, inspire and support all clinical people within Medigold Health.
- Maintain and enhance Medigold Health’s reputation for clinical excellence and pushing the boundaries of clinical innovation.
- Support the Board in achieving its objectives and executing the strategy set out in our short, medium and long-term plans.
- Liaise with and assist Medigold Health’s customer base and help us in our mission to keep their people in work, safe and well.
- Guide our approach to tackling the challenges posed by the evolving labour landscape as we look ahead to 2030 and beyond.
In short, to steer and support our team in building the UK’s most relevant and forward-thinking workplace health and wellbeing business that sets a new agenda for the OH sector.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the C-suite in engaging with all clinical people within Medigold Health to ensure that everyone in the business is striving to achieve the goals set.
- Help clinicians at all levels to understand and appreciate the strategy of the business in the context of wider commercial conditions and industry realities.
- Monitor and oversee the wellbeing and resilience of our clinical teams.
- Support Medigold Health’s focus on clinician retention and talent attraction.
- Mentor and support the clinical leadership cadres within the business.
- Work in partnership with other clinical leaders and colleagues to lead clinical engagement within the organisation and take responsibility for all clinical governance.
- Work alongside the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Clinical Innovation Director to help deliver all future projects for digitally enhanced service delivery.
- Support Medigold Health in maintaining strong stakeholder relationships within customer organisations, particularly with senior, high profile and decision-making roles.
- Support business development and sales activity by providing, and collaborating in the development of, innovative and creative clinically assured solutions.
- Work closely with colleagues in service delivery and other support functions to ensure that the Medigold Health proposition represents the optimal solution to meet our customers’ current and future needs and that these needs are well understood.
- Assist the Board and the General Counsel with inspections conducted by external accreditation bodies (for example SEQOHS, HIS, RISQS) and ensure that recommended actions are fully implemented and appropriately reviewed to ensure compliance.
- Work closely with the Chief Delivery Officer and Chief Financial Officer to continually assess and review the medical workforce needs across Medigold Health against the Company’s wider operational and strategic demands.
- Assume a lead role in shaping Medigold Health’s policies and strategies for developing and transforming medical practice throughout the organisation, leveraging any prevailing government policy incentives when it comes to occupational healthcare and employee wellbeing.
- Help us to enhance our profile and standing within the wider occupational health industry through proactively collaborating with external organisations including the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM) and Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM).
- Develop, maintain and enhance effective clinical leadership across all services and sites.
- Ensure that within each clinical area, effective systems and processes are established to enable the delivery of the clinical governance agenda.
- Ensure that there is a proactive succession plan in place for senior clinical leadership roles.
- Ensure that standards of medical education and training meet national requirements (NTN/I and CESR) and contribute to the successful recruitment and retention of clinicians in training.
- Review clinical supervision and CPD programmes to ensure they meet the required standards.
- Chair the Medigold Health Clinical Governance Committee.
- Support the Health and Safety Committee.
- Provide clinical input as required to support the Risk and Audit Committee.
- Organise and oversee monthly/quarterly meetings for clinical leadership groups and provide support and oversight to the Head of Clinical Governance.
- Be the point of ultimate escalation for handling of clinical complaints.
- Regularly review the clinical structure as the business expands through both organic growth and acquisitions.

- Work alongside the C-suite and other clinical leaders to support the Company in maintaining and further cultivating an inclusive, supportive and psychologically safe environment and a positive wellbeing culture.
- Support with providing cover for, and undertaking all associated duties on behalf of, Medical Directors during periods of absence.
- Deliver bespoke customer training as required.
- To comply with Data Protection Legislation and Information Security requirements, such as ISO 27001.
- To ensure commitment to impartiality, confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility of information.
- Adhering to policy, procedure, regulatory, customer and standard requirements relating to quality, information security and environmental management systems.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE
- Demonstrable clinical leadership and management experience across a range of sectors.
- Minimum of MFOM qualification and proven experience within the commercial Occupational Health industry.
- A progressive attitude that embraces technological advancements, and an understanding that delivery and operating models must evolve and change to thrive.
- A desire to challenge industry norms and traditional constructs.
- A determination to break new ground and try new things.
- Experience in developing and implementing robust clinical processes.
- A passion for developing people and nurturing talent.
- An ability to robustly manage upwards and sideways, as well as downwards, with compassion and a sense of humour.
- Grit, tenacity and an ability to demonstrate courage and resilience, and inspire this in others, in the face of challenges.
